The UK’s No1 Business Incubator, Sheffield Technology Parks is proud to announce that one of it’s own client company’s, andymayer.net, has been shortlisted for the UKBI National Incubatee of the Year 2008.

Four national finalists were selected in the year that sees the highest number of entries on record for UKBI and andymayer.net (Sheffield Technology Parks) will now go head to head to compete against Fluid (University of Teesside), Twisted (University of Teesside) and Accessible Audio (University of Bristol).

Peter Wood, Chief Executive, Sheffield Technology Parks said: “We are delighted that andymayer.net has been shortlisted for the UKBI National Incubatee of the Year 2008. To be awarded the UK’s No1 Business Incubator last year, and have andymayer.net recognised as a leading UKBI growth company this year, is brilliant news for both Sheffield Technology Parks and South Yorkshire.”

andymayer.net was established in 2005 and is a fast growing web development company, renowned for having a strong niche in Web 2.0 and social networking - helping membership organisations use the internet to build their membership and deliver services. The company’s workforce has now doubled and this year the company’s turnover is set to increase phenomenally by 320%!

andymayer.net has reaped the benefits from being based at the UK’s No1 Business Incubator, experiencing considerable growth with an impressive list of local, national and international clients. Founder, Andy Mayer says: “Our base at the Sheffield Technology Parks has been key to our success. It has given us access to a pool of potential clients and partners and opened doors to much larger collaborators and greater opportunities.”

Exciting and innovative, recent work includes andymayer.net developing Facebook applications for clients in Europe, as well as developing ‘Worldeka’ an online community for those wanting to participate in social change. Other clients include; Canadian-based TeamSpace, Melt, National Association of Voluntary and Community Action, National Metals Technology, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Inspiral and Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The winner will announced at the UKBI’s International Gala Dinner in Bristol on 19-20th November 2008, as part of the UKBI’s 10th International Conference. Over 300 members from around the world will attend to celebrate ‘Innovation’ and ‘Entrepreneurship’ through Business Incubation. An excellent opportunity for Sheffield to be recognised for what it does best!
